A LITTLE ABOUT THIS PROJECT

A tiny website.
A lot to learn.

Web Starter Lab is a simple educational website about the small decisions that make a website more useful.

WHY IT EXISTS

Learning works better
when it's practical.

Technical terms like hosting, metadata, indexing and sitemap can sound harder than they really are. This site explains those concepts in plain language with examples that a local business owner or first-time builder can understand.

It is also an example of a small, static website: no complicated login system, no database and no unnecessary distractions. Its pages demonstrate basics such as responsive design, internal links, meaningful page titles and a sitemap.

This is an independent learning project. It is not a registered web agency, does not represent Google, and does not claim SEO results or customer work that hasn't happened.

THE THREE PRINCIPLES

Useful over flashy.

Things worth remembering whether you're creating a one-page local business site or something more ambitious.

01

Clear beats clever.

Tell visitors what the page is about and help them find what they need.

02

Own your basics.

Understand your domain, hosting and access to important accounts.

03

Measure, don't guess.

Use real data to improve over time instead of chasing guaranteed rankings.

WHERE TO NEXT?

Pick one thing.
Learn it well.
